Oak Bowery Lodge was chartered on October 31, 1849 with Zelotes H. Mason - Worshipful Master, Beverly A. Freeman - Senior Warden, John Jones - Junior Warden, and Benjamin Johnston - Secretary. With a Master named MASON and a SW with the name FREEMAN, this Lodge definately started with the correct tone.

The lodge got its name from the fact that the members originally met under a spreading Oak tree for many years.

When the American Civil War broke out the lodge never actually closed, it remained open during the duration of the war.

The lodge moved to its first permanent building in January 2006.

The lodge's website ( www.oakbowery.org ) was activated and approved by the Grand Lodge of Georgia in February 2006.
